In dermatology, phototherapy – also known as light therapy –has proven to be a gentle and effective treatment for chronic skin diseases such as psoriasis or neurodermatitis and even skin cancer. Phototherapy uses controlled artificial ultraviolet light to help reduce symptoms of common skin conditions.
Long time ago, in ancient times, people knew that some skin diseases improve by themselves in the sunlight. And even today, many patients feel this positive effect. Although they rarely go out into the sun without sunscreen out of concern for sunburn and skin tumors. In this respect, it was only logical to use the anti-inflammatory UV-A and UV-B light, regardless of the weather, for the targeted and controlled treatment of skin diseases. Phototherapy has proven itself in chronic diseases such as psoriasis, eczema, such as seborrhoeic eczema, atopic eczema or neurodermatitis. In addition the treatment of white skin cancer achieves very good results with photodynamic therapy (PDT).
