Graduated from high school and studied medicine at Goethe University Frankfurt. Trained as a specialist in dermatology and venereology at the Dermatology Clinic of Darmstadt Hospital. Residency in cardiology at Baskent University Alanya (TR), as well as dermatology practices in the Rhine-Main area..

S. Akalin-Rater's areas of special expertise and training besides classical dermatology are classic dermatology, skin cancer prevention, laser medicine, surgical-, aesthetic- and pediatric-dermatology.
